HHC Bellevue Hospital Center is pleased to announce that rabbinical student Levi Rosenblatt was discharged today after being successfully treated for a stab wound to the head. Rosenblatt was injured on Dec. 9 and was taken to HHC Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, then transferred to Bellevue in Manhattan.
“Mr. Rosenblatt suffered a knife injury to the blood vessels in an extremely sensitive area of his brain,” said Dr. Paul Huang, Chief of Neurosurgery, who was in charge of Mr. Rosenblatt’s care. “Because of the resources available to us, as well as the experience and expertise of the nurses and physicians at Bellevue Hospital, we were able to deliver a very sophisticated level of care to this patient. He underwent a procedure to repair two blood vessels, which was successful. He has had an amazing recovery.”
The family has asked us to share the following statements:
“I have a lot of people from way back in the beginning to thank, above all, God and the Rebbe who provided his blessings,” said Mr. Rosenblatt, 22. “Thanks to the Hatzalah of Crown Heights volunteer ambulance service, the NYPD, the doctors and nurses here at Bellevue and at Kings County Hospital, my friends who stayed with me in my room around the clock, my family who came from Israel to be with me, and all the people all over the world who have prayed for me.”
“I am so impressed with the attention and care my son received at Bellevue Hospital,” said Reizy Rosenblatt, Mr. Rosenblatt’s mother. “I don’t even have the words to express my gratitude; better care than what Levi received here is not even possible.”
“Today is the first day of Chanukah, a holiday that is all about miracles, and there have been many miracles for us,” said Shmuel Gelbshtein, Mr. Rosenblatt’s uncle. “The timing is significant as this is the month of ‘Kislev,’ the Month of Redemption. We want to thank God, who is the ultimate healer, for this big miracle, and for the messengers he provided to us—the doctors and nurses at Bellevue who cared for Levi and healed him. We thank God that Levi is walking on his own two feet and we are expecting him to make a full recovery.”
