NYC Health + Hospitals today announced the appointment of Khoi Luong, DO as Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Care for the system. Dr. Luong will oversee all aspects of operations and patient care provided in the five skilled nursing facilities, Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH), short-term rehabilitation, and adult day healthcare programs. Dr. Luong has over seven years of experience in post-acute care and has served in various leadership roles with NYC Health + Hospitals since 2016, most recently as Interim Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Care for the system. Throughout his career with NYC Health + Hospitals, Dr. Luong increased clinical capabilities across 6 sites. As a member of the system’s executive COVID-19 response team, he assisted with the set up and oversight of medical operations of a 350-bed surge facility during the peak of the pandemic. Under his leadership, NYC Health + Hospitals’ 5 post-acute and long-term care facilities have been ranked as some of the best in the nation by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare, Newsweek, and U.S. News & World Report for their excellent long-term, skilled nursing care, and rehabilitation services.

Dr. Luong earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida, a Degree of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is seeking a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts. He completed a Fellowship for America’s Essential Hospital Program in 2018, is a Certified Medical Director, American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care 2015, and completed Fellowship for Healthcare Leaders Program 2014. He is a Licensed NYS Physician, and holds two board certifications: American Osteopathic Board Certification of Geriatric Medicine and American Osteopathic Board Certification of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Luong is a member of the American Academy of Physician Leaders, American Medical Directors Association, American Geriatrics Society and American Osteopathic Association.
