Konstantinos Margetis, MD, PHD

Dr. Konstantinos Margetis has been Associate Director of Neurosurgery at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst since 2015. He also is an assistant professor of neurosurgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Colleagues and staff praise Dr. Margetis for his professionalism, and ability to deal with the toughest cases. His fluency in three languages enhances his compassion toward patients in the city’s most diverse borough. Medical and surgical colleagues turn to Dr. Margetis whenever difficult cases arise, and praise him for his respectful manner with patients.

Dr. Margetis obtained his medical degree from the Aristotle University of Thesssaloniki Medical School, Thessaloniki, Greece, and his PhD from the University of Athens. He also was a neurosurgeon with the Greek Special Forces. He completed his Neurosurgery residency at the University of Athens. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and had post-graduate Fellowships in Complex Spine Surgery from the Cleveland Clinic and in Pediatric Neurosurgery from Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Margetis also has a Master Certificate in Health Care Leadership from Cornell University. Dr. Margetis also trained in Emergency Medicine at the Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, D.C., and was a consultant in Neurosurgery to the Trinicay Medical Services, Grand Cayman. His research has been published in the Journal of Neurosurgery, World Neurosurgery, Neuromodulation and the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology.
