Mayor De Blasio and NYC Health + Hospitals Announce $7.8 Million in Funding for Community-Based Organizations to Promote Covid-19 Testing and Tracing in Hard-Hit Neighborhoods

Jul 27, 2020

New York, NY

Mayor de Blasio today announced $7.8 million for community-based organizations to promote public awareness around COVID-19 and the City’s Test & Trace Corps. These 38 community-based organizations (CBOs) serve low-income and vulnerable communities across the five boroughs at increased risk of contracting COVID-19.

“Our city will not recover until we address the painful disparities laid bare by the COVID-19 crisis,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “As we emerge from the crisis, we are doing everything we can to deliver care to New Yorkers in the heart of their communities. The Test and Trace Corps is our most effective way to stop the spread of the virus and ensure that New Yorkers have the tools they need to protect themselves and their loved ones.”

The following organizations will receive funding from the City to educate the public on staying safe from COVID-19 and engaging with the Test & Trace Corps in the City’s public health response. Messaging and outreach work will begin this month and continue through November. Additional information is available here.

The Test & Trace Corps is the City’s comprehensive effort to test, trace, and treat every case of COVID-19. Through a partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Corps allows the City to immediately isolate and care for those who test positive for the virus and then rapidly track, assess, and quarantine anyone they may have infected.
