New York, NY

The NYC Test & Trace Corps and Catholic Charities of Staten Island today announced the opening of the first COVID-19 rapid testing site on the South Shore of Staten Island. The site located at Mount Loretto will provide on-site test results and connections to free resources, 7 days a week, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., for the community on the South Shore experiencing higher positivity rates.
“As the need for testing grows on the South Shore of Staten Island, the City is responding to bring our strongest resources to the fight against COVID-19 with the opening of a rapid testing site,” said NYC Test & Trace Corps Executive Director Dr. Ted Long. “We are grateful to Catholic Charities of Staten Island for their partnership to make this resource available to the community quickly and at no cost to patients.”

“We at Catholic Charities of Staten Island are happy to partner with NYC to bring Covid testing to the South Shore,” said Catholic Charities of Staten Island CEO Vincent Ignizio. “We wanted to be a part of the solution in helping people remain safe and healthy in our community. Thanks to all who made this possible.”

Beginning today, the Mount Loretto location will offer rapid COVID-19 testing with results available on-site. Residents will also receive information and resources, and contact tracers will be readily available to support those who test positive.

Rapid testing is at no cost to the patient and is a part of the City’s ongoing efforts to increase access to testing and provide point-of-care testing to communities in need, so that New Yorkers can get tested and continue to take the steps they need to help stop the spread of Covid -19. The site at Mount Loretto is the second rapid testing site opened by the NYC Test & Trace Corps on Staten Island, following the launch of the rapid testing site at the St. George Ferry terminal last week.

South Shore of Staten Island Rapid Testing Site Location and Hours:

Mount Loretto
6581 Hylan Boulevard
Staten Island, NY, 10309
Monday – Sunday; 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

To help all New Yorkers safely separate at home and monitor their health status, the Take Care pillar of the Test & Trace Corps also offers free hotel rooms with wraparound services for New Yorkers who are unable to safely separate in their own homes. For those safely separating at home, contact tracers perform daily calls and conduct in-person visits as necessary. These calls allow tracers to gauge the progress of cases, ensure proper compliance with separation protocol, and connect people to more supportive services as necessary. Today, 98% of all COVID-19 cases and 96% of contacts reported following isolation and quarantine requirements.
