Dr. Wallach received his undergraduate degree in History (cum laude) from Duke University and his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also completed his residency training in Internal Medicine.

At NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, he serves as the Ambulatory Care Chief. In this role, he leads the Ambulatory Care Service Line and works with the Clinic Chiefs to improve access, quality and patient satisfaction throughout Ambulatory Care. In 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2020, he led the team which successfully achieved NCQA Level 3 Recognition as a Patient-Centered Medical Home for Bellevue’s Primary Care Services. At NYC H+H, he serves as the Ambulatory Care Chief Medical Officer. In this role, he is responsible for leading the overall clinical vision for Ambulatory Care throughout the Enterprise in order to provide high quality medical care for patients as well as to align staff to meet the changing environment in healthcare: the shift to population health management, value-based purchasing, and risk pool management. He is also a co-chair of the Enterprise-wide Ambulatory Care Leadership Council at NYC H+H.

A clinician-educator, he is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Innovation (DGIMCI) at the NYU School of Medicine and serves as the DGIMCI Associate Director for Clinical Innovations and Clinical Affairs. In this latter role, he focuses on the Division’s clinical mission: optimizing the health outcomes of individuals and populations served by the DGIM practice sites. His research interests include quality improvement (clinical care and systems-based practices) and medical education.
