World Trade Center Environmental Health Center Provides Care New Yorkers Deserve

We provide expert treatment, with no out of pocket cost, for medical conditions related to 9/11 in our World Trade Center Environmental Health Center. This federally funded Center of Excellence is one of three sites-along with Bellevue and Elmhurst Hospitals-established to treat residents, cleanup workers, area employees, students and others who suffer health effects related to the events of 9/11.

If you lived, worked or studied in Lower Manhattan around 9/11 and haven’t felt the same since, you could qualify for our program.

Common symptoms include:

  • Sinus problems
  • New or worsened asthma
  • Shortness of breath
  • Digestive issues
  • Heartburn
  • Persistent cough
  • Skin rashes
  • New or increased allergies
  • Itchy, watery eyes
  • Anxiety or nightmares
  • Other respiratory, digestive or emotional problems

Not sure your symptoms are related to 9/11? After you enroll in the program, our doctors will evaluate you to find out.

Poor health is not always a normal consequence of age. Most people are not aware that environmental factors can have a huge effect their health and wellness. It is important to know the sources of your symptoms because treatment plans often vary depending on whether or not symptoms are environmentally triggered.

The dust cloud that emerged from the World Trade Center Disaster contained numerous toxins and gases, producing air pollution that has caused the health of many New Yorkers to deteriorate. For those exposed to the 9/11 disaster, pollution may have caused new ailments and existing conditions to worsen. Our doctors can evaluate whether many of your health symptoms are related to pollution or other factors and provide the right treatment for your conditions.

At Gouverneur, our multilingual specialists are fluent in Cantonese, French, Mandarin and Spanish to provide treatment in your language. Our respiratory, digestive, behavioral health and environmental health specialists work together to evaluate and care for you as a whole person. The best part is-there are no co-pays, no medication fees and no hassles. We even have an on-site lab and pharmacy for added convenience.

For eligibility and enrollment of people new to the program, call toll free 1-888-WTC-HP4U (1-888-982-4748) or visit www.cdc.gov/wtc. If you are an existing patient, please call 212-238-7400.  For more information, visit NYC Health + Hospitals’ website at nychealthandhospitals.org.
