Course Description:
The Cardiac Code Team Course is designed to share best practices for the team-based clinical management of low frequency, high acuity events, including cardiac arrest. This course prepares the learners to function as high-performing teams, including ensuring that each member has a firm grasp of the basic skills that could lead to better patient outcome during cardiac code events. This course employs active learning methodologies and as such, learners will be heavily involved in acquiring and processing the latest evidenced-based information and best practices concerning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills, teamwork, and communication (TeamSTEPPS). Learners will practice and assess their cardiac arrest management and teamwork skills using both part-task and hi-fidelity simulators in realistic cardiac code scenarios. This course follows a team learning concept. The expectation is the code teams that participate in this session will likely perform the code team duties together for a particular period of time.
