The Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health provides mental health support and resources for coping and mental well-being during the COVID-19 outbreak with specific resources for:

  • Help with alcohol or drug use
  • Grief and loss
  • Aging New Yorkers
  • Veterans
  • Students and young people
  • Parents and caregivers
  • People harmed by violence, crime or abuse
  • People with disabilities
  • City government employees
  • Additional COVID-19 support

NYC Care

NYC Care is a health care access program that guarantees low-cost and no-cost services to New Yorkers who:

  • Do not qualify for or
  • Cannot afford health insurance

Cost

Many mental health programs listed above are free to New Yorkers, no matter your insurance coverage or immigration status.
For programs that require payment, New York State has issued a rule.

Insurance companies must waive the following for in-network telehealth visits, including mental health services:

  • Deductibles. Amount you pay for covered health care services before your plan starts to pay.
  • Copayments (copays). Set amount you pay for a covered health care service after you’ve paid your deductible.
  • Coinsurance. Percentage of costs for a covered health care service. You pay the coinsurance after you’ve paid your deductible.
