Forty percent of the patients who come to our Emergency Department are treated in our “Express” area. Separating out this segment of patients – who traditionally spend less time in the Emergency Department – allows the other staff members to spend more time with the critically ill patients who require more care and treatment.

For those patients who might not need to be admitted to our inpatient services but need to be medically optimized for longer than a standard Emergency Department visit, we now have an observation unit in the Emergency Department.
