The Department of Surgery at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens offers quality surgical care. Office evaluation and treatments, Ambulatory Surgery and in-hospital care are provided by an outstanding group of board-certified surgeons. Specialties include general surgery, breast surgery, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, plastic surgery, hand surgery, and podiatric surgery.

GENERAL SURGERY

An excellent group of board-certified general surgeons provides outstanding individualized care for patients with a wide variety of conditions. In some cases, surgeons can utilize the latest minimally invasive laparoscopy techniques, with the aim of a rapid recuperation and return to activity for the patient.

BREAST SURGERY

Our board-certified breast surgeons assure quality and compassionate individualized care of patients with breast masses or breast cancer as part of the Queens Cancer Center. State-of-the-art breast imaging is used, including digital mammography, breast sonography and breast ultrasound, breast MRI and PET scanning. Biopsies are performed using a variety of techniques customized to the individual patient. When possible, our board-certified surgeons perform breast-conserving surgery for breast cancer, removing only that portion of the breast containing the cancer. Follow-up required radiotherapy is performed in our state-of-the-art unit. When the extent of breast cancer demands removal of the breast (mastectomy) for the best outcome, our skilled team of breast surgeons performs the mastectomy with the availability of immediate reconstruction if and when desired.

COLORECTAL SURGERY

Our staff of double board-certified colorectal surgeons assures quality and compassionate individualized care of patients with colon or rectal cancers as part of the Queens Cancer Center. Our surgeons treat a wide variety of benign (non-cancerous) and cancerous conditions both by non-operative and operative treatments using the most up-to-date techniques.

VASCULAR SURGERY

NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens Vascular Service is a comprehensive center specifically designed for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with circulatory problems led by outstanding board-certified vascular surgeons from the Mount Sinai Vascular Service. For an appointment with the Vascular Surgery practice, please call 718-883-2331.

THORACIC SURGERY

Our thoracic board-certified surgeon assures quality and compassionate individualized care of patients with benign and cancerous conditions of the chest, such as lung cancer, cancer of the esophagus, lung masses, thymus disease and infections of the chest. Whenever possible, the surgeon will use a minimally invasive approach to allow appropriate treatment, followed by an earlier return to activity.

PLASTIC SURGERY

Our board-certified plastic surgeon assures quality and compassionate individualized care of patients with plastic surgical needs, such as breast reconstruction, breast reduction, and plastic surgery reconstructions of deformities from prior surgery or disease. Poorly healing sacral decubitus ulcers (bed sores) may also benefit from plastic surgery intervention. Our plastic surgeon is available for consultation.

HAND SURGERY
Our board-certified surgeon assures quality and compassionate individualized care of patients with hand conditions, such as traumatic hand injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, and De Quervain’s tendonitis. NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens plastic surgeons have extensive experience in the evaluation and treatment of all of these conditions.

PODIATRIC SURGERY

Our experienced podiatric surgeons assure quality and compassionate individualized care of patients with foot and ankle conditions, including bunions, hammertoes, foot trauma, diabetes, infection and gangrene.
