What should I do before my appointment?

Before you visit a NYC Health + Hospitals site for your vaccination, keep in mind the following tips:

  • If you are pregnant or breast feeding, please discuss vaccination with your doctor
  • If you have a history of severe allergic reactions, please discuss vaccination with your doctor
  • Reschedule your appointment if you have active COVID-19 or a COVID-19 test result pending as you will be unable to receive the vaccine until your illness has resolved
  • Reschedule your appointment if you are not feeling well on the day of your appointment
  • Bring a copy of your work ID, pay stub or letter from your employer verifying your eligibility
  • If you are 65 years of age or older, please bring proof of your date of birth
  • Bring your health insurance card/information to your appointment
  • Wear a face covering to your appointment

Why should I get vaccinated?

When you get vaccinated, you are helping to protect yourself and your family and friends. You are also helping to make your community safer. We know New Yorkers care about their communities, including health care workers and small business owners. In clinical studies, both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were more than 94% effective at protecting participants from COVID-19. They were also shown to be safe and that you cannot get COVID-19 from them.

Do I need to take precautions even after I’m vaccinated?

Yes! Even after you are vaccinated, you will still need to practice these important COVID-19 prevention steps: stay home if you are sick, wash your hands, wear a face covering and keep physical distance from others.
