Paying for Your Health Care

Health Insurance Search

If you have health insurance, not all of our hospitals or health centers may participate in your plan. You can find specific details about:

  • how to reach our financial counselors,
  • what health plans our hospitals and health centers participate in, and
  • what the cost is for many of our services.

How to Pay Your Bill/Financial Services

Patients should carry insurance cards at all times. Not every insurance plan pays for all charges, diagnoses, or conditions, and there may be deductibles or co-pays. Also for some plans, it is the responsibility of the patient or policy holder to inform their insurer in a timely manner regarding most hospitalizations, particularly elective hospital admissions. If it is determined a patient has no insurance coverage, the hospital staff will discuss with you the various alternatives available to resolve the outstanding bill. This could include reduced charges and payment over an extended period of time. The hospital Patient Accounts staff will help to answer questions related to any patient’s bill. For questions about inpatient bills, call 718-918-3292. For questions about Emergency Department or outpatient bills, call 718-918-3375.

Cost of Services

NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi is committed to providing you with as much information as possible about our charges. The information on the link below contains the charges for all services and items provided by the hospital.

The charges are uniform for all patients served by the hospital. However, the hospital charges rarely reflect the expected out-of-pocket expense for a specific hospital service, nor do they reflect the actual payment that the hospital will receive for those services. Your own charges and out-of-pocket expenses will depend on one or more of the following:

  • the actual patient care services received
  • the terms of your insurance coverage, including your specific co-insurance, co-payment and deductible, and/or
  • your eligibility for financial assistance

If you don’t have insurance, we can help explain the choices available to you and assist you enrolling in the plan that is best for you and your family. If you do not qualify or cannot afford any of the free or low-cost health insurance plans available, you may qualify for NYC Health + Hospitals Options – a free or discount payment plan to make our health care services affordable for you and your family. For a fuller understanding of your estimated out-of-pocket expenses, you should contact your insurer or the hospital’s patient financial counseling department at 718-918-3375.

The charges provided are for hospital services only and do not reflect any charges you may receive from the physicians caring for you.
