Teen Health Center

Welcome to the Teen Center. It is our goal to help youth grow into healthy, responsible adults. By collaborating with parents and the community, the Teen Center is a place where teens can come learn about healthy behaviors and how to make responsible decisions to help them better manage their lives.

In New York State, teens do not need permission from a parent or guardian to get birth control, sexually transmitted infection (STI) tests, and pregnancy tests. This means we will not tell anyone about a teen’s visit unless we are asked to. However, we always encourage parental involvement and support.

We are located on the first floor in Pediatric Ambulatory Services in 1C2. Our Center is a confidential, safe, and friendly place for teenagers to get the care they need.

Family Planning Services

You do not need an adult or parent to come with you to the Center for family planning services. Our confidential family planning services include:

• Free condoms
• Birth control methods
• Sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and treatment
• Confidential HIV testing and counseling
• Plan B (morning after pill)
• Referrals to specialized doctors as needed
• Referrals to local community organizations
• Pregnancy tests
• Health promotion and education about sexual health

All of our family planning health care services are free or low cost and are offered to young men and women until their 21st birthday.

Routine Health Care

We offer routine and comprehensive health care services. Our physicians specialize in adolescent medicine. These doctors can provide teens with the care they need. You will select one of our Teen Center doctors as your primary care physician or PCP under your insurance plan during your first visit. We can help you with this step when you come to the Center.

As a reminder, a legal guardian must accompany teens under age 18 for routine care.

Schedule an Appointment

It is easy to make an appointment. We encourage teens to schedule their appointments for faster service, although teens may be able to get a same-day appointment sometimes.

The Center is open Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 4:30pm. Our team looks forward to helping you stay healthy.
