NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln provides comprehensive health services to women by a team of highly specialized and caring medical professionals.
Our Women’s Health Center provides a modern, family friendly environment for OB/GYN care. Routine gynecology and prenatal care takes place six days a week. Annual screening, Pap tests, and breast examinations are also available. Mammography screening, Family Planning services, rapid HIV testing, and termination of pregnancy services are available five days a week. We offer same day appointments for pregnancy testing.
In addition to these services, the full breadth of subspecialty services is available. Colposcopy and treatment for dysplasia as well as Gynecologic Oncology cancer specialty care is now available at Lincoln as of January 2017. Reproductive endocrinology, infertility consultation and Female Pelvic Floor Medicine (Urogynecology) for urinary and fecal incontinence and prolapse, including urodynamic bladder testing, is also on site in our clinic, located in 1A2.
High-risk pregnancy patients receive full services in our new Maternal Fetal Testing Unit. Our maternal fetal medicine specialists provide routine and specialized ultrasound, non-stress testing, amniocentesis and genetic counseling in one location.
The Women’s Ambulatory Surgery Center is for outpatient surgical procedures. It can accommodate first and second trimester pregnancy termination, as well as surgical procedures that do not require an overnight stay. Patients have full access to our anesthesia and surgery staff and gynecology department surgeons.
Childbirth and Breastfeeding Classes
We offer childbirth and breastfeeding classes to mothers and their partners, family members, or friends. The classes are given 3 to 4 times a month and are in Spanish and English. Each class covers several topics. The classes are designed to provide a complete overview of the birthing process that focuses on childbirth, labor and delivery, newborn care, postpartum care, breastfeeding, nutrition, and parenting skills. We recommend that you take the classes in the 7th month of your pregnancy. It is recommended that you attend all classes. We also invite you to take a tour of our labor and delivery suite.
The WIC Program provides nutritional supplements to eligible pregnant, post-partum, breastfeeding women, and their infants and children up to five years old. WIC also offers a series of culturally and linguistically appropriate educational classes for mothers on proper nutrition, cooking demonstrations, family exercise programs, and breastfeeding programs.

Gynecology
Our surgeons include specialists in minimally invasive surgery for hysterectomies, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, fibroid tumors, and other common gynecologic problems. Specialists in gynecologic cancer, incontinence and prolapse problems, and infertility ensure that our patients have access to the very best care in their neighborhood.
Obstetrics and Prenatal Care
Lincoln’s skilled obstetricians provide personal and patient-centered prenatal care to pregnant patients. Normal and high-risk deliveries are cared for in a supportive environment. Patients are assigned to their own physicians and are cared for by a team that includes nurses and counselors.
A high-risk Level 3 Nursery means that even the most vulnerable premature babies can remain with their mothers. Neonatal care for the newborn is coordinated with our colleagues in the Department of Pediatrics. We can help you identify a physician for the baby before the delivery.
The Baby-Friendly Initiative encourages hospitals and birthing centers to offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. It distinguishes birth facilities worldwide that offer mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies. The prestigious “Baby-Friendly” designation is given only after a rigorous on-site survey is completed, and is then reviewed every five years.
Lincoln’s Labor and Delivery Suite offers exceptional obstetric care in a modern, technologically advanced, and nurturing environment. The state-of-the-art birthing suite offers spacious, private, and family-friendly rooms equipped with cozy lounge chairs, private bathrooms, and telephones. In addition to these amenities, the obstetrical services provided have been carefully designed to respond to complex care such as high-risk pregnancies and monitoring fetal well-being during the delivery stage. Anesthesia care including patient controlled epidural anesthesia is available 24 hours a day. Our beautiful postpartum floor has rooming in, single and double rooms with amenities such as a soaking tub and spacious showers.
Family planning services help women decide when and how many children to have. We provide access to affordable reproductive health checkups and contraceptive methods. Our high-quality services include sexual health education, screening for infections, and treatment. Lincoln is a Title X site with a fellowship trained Family Planning specialist. Contraception of all types including long-acting IUD’s and implants are available for outpatients. Emergency contraception is available too. Services are confidential. We help women maintain a healthy reproductive life.

Gynecologic Oncology
Lincoln’s Cancer Center has a subspecialist in cancers of the female reproductive system. Diagnosis and treatment of cervix, uterus, endometrial, ovarian, and vulvar cancers are now available in the same convenient clinic as our routine gynecologic care. Evaluation of abnormal pap smears takes place in our Dysplasia/Colposcopy clinic.
Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology)
Many women suffer in silence with urine or stool leakage. Lincoln’s specialists now offer testing and treatment for a prolapsed or dropped bladder and uterus. Treatment may include medication, pessaries for vaginal support, or surgical repair. Bladder testing with the latest equipment ensures timely and accurate diagnosis.
Maternal Fetal Testing Unit
Our new unit is a dedicated wing where high-risk patients can see the maternal fetal medicine specialists. Patients can have ultrasound examinations, speak to genetic specialists, and have procedures such as antenatal testing and amniocentesis performed in one location. It is staffed by two high-risk pregnancy physicians and their support staff. The unit is close to the Labor and Delivery and OB Triage units, which provides patients with direct access for an immediate evaluation if necessary.
The unit provides doctor’s appointments five days a week.
Domestic Violence Program
Our program offers crisis intervention counseling, psychosocial support, as well as ongoing individual and group counseling. The Department of Social Work conducts domestic violence support groups that offer women an opportunity to speak with peer counselors or to other women. Educational classes are offered that focus on the dynamics of domestic violence and warning signs of an abusive personality or relationship. This program also provides resources on employment, vocational training, parenting issues, legal issues and self-improvement.
