Outpatient Department
Director of Ambulatory Care Service: Monique Collier, MD

Our ambulatory pediatric department has approximately 30,000 visits annually for well care visits, acute care and sub-specialty visits. Residents rotate through the various sub-specialty clinics tailored to your specific interests and have increased time for continuity clinic. Residents on outpatient rotations are exposed to extensive range of medical problems and are supervised by general pediatricians and sub-specialists. Residents learn to manage a child’s chronic and acute issues and to serve as an ally in health, advocate and educator for patients and their families. The primary care continuity clinic is a vital component of the pediatric residency program. Residents spend an average of half a day in the clinic and are paired with a team of pediatrician for all three years of the residency. Residents have the ability to follow patients from birth through their time at Lincoln. Attending physicians and residents work side side-by-side, creating an intimate learning environment. All faculty members have participated in a unique and innovative training program specifically designed to enhance their teaching skills. Since exposure to certain subspecialties is essential to pediatric practice, residents rotate through several required electives: Adolescent Medicine, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Hematology/ Oncology, and Neurology. Residents may choose other rotations to complement their own interests and needs. The ambulatory pediatric care department has earned the certification of TJC as a Pediatric Asthma Center of Excellence and has been the NYC DOH Immunizations Honor Roll.

Inpatient Services
Director of Neonatology: Ronald Bainbridge, MD

The level III NICU, also a busy multi-disciplinary service, is staffed by board certified neonatologists and residents. Residents attend deliveries, manage critically-ill neonates and staff the well-baby nursery. There are 20 NICU beds with 350 NICU admissions and 1800 deliveries annually NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln was the first hospital in the Bronx to be designated “Baby-Friendly” by Baby-Friendly USA, part of an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) designed to improve maternal and infant health by promoting breastfeeding. We promote “rooming in,” which allows mothers and infants to remain together 24 hours a day.

Director of Inpatient Services: Catalina Marino, MD

The general inpatient unit is a run by two board-certified hospitalists. The inpatient unit has 24 pediatric in-patient beds and has 1,100 admissions per year. Interns and residents learn to evaluate and manage common in patient and post-operative cases. Senior residents provide supervision to interns and all are directly supervised by our hospitalists. The education and gain experience in leadership and decision-making.

Director of Pediatric Critical Care Services: Franscene Oulds, MD

The PICU is a multi-disciplinary service with 400 admissions annually staffed by board-certified pediatric intensivist and house staff. Residents provide direct patient care and learn to manage critically ill patients under direct attending supervision.

On all inpatient services, residents learn from direct patient contact, daily attending rounds, noon conferences with members of the faculty. There is continuous mentoring by the Chief Residents and Chief of Service, with individualized instruction and case presentations.

Emergency Department

The NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln is a designated a Level I Trauma Center. The pediatric emergency division of the Emergency Medicine Department has a dedicated location within the Emergency Department for pediatric patients with 30,000 annual visits. Patients with minor to critical illness are seen and offer residents a rich and diverse experience. Residents are supervised by pediatric emergency medicine-trained physicians and will learn to evaluate, stabilize, and manage common in pediatric emergency. In the emergency department there is direct hands on experience to develop procedural skills.

Child Advocacy Center (CASA)
Director of CASA: Aaron Miller, MD

The Child Advocacy Center is one of only five programs in New York City. This unique multidisciplinary program provides diagnostic and treatment services for physically and sexually-abused children. The program, which also includes the Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse (CASA) clinic serves in an advocacy role with legal, child welfare and law enforcement agencies and includes a parental education component for the prevention of child abuse. The program also offers short-term psychological therapy for victims of abuse.

Youth Health Center
Director of Youth Health Center: Julie Nagpal, MD

NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln provides comprehensive health services to adolescents ages 12 to 21 through its nationally recognized Teen Center. The Teen Center provides an array of primary care including routine vaccinations and physicals, reproductive and sexual health, and primary care mental health services to promote the health and well-being of adolescents. The Youth Health Center was awarded the 2008 National Association of Public Hospital (NAPH) “Honorable Mention” Safety Net Award for Reducing Healthcare Disparities by improving access to care for Hispanic and Black adolescents.
